This riff can be played on any key harmonica but I am using a C harmonica in this one because most people have a C harmonica if they have any harmonica. If you need one, use my links for the best prices online:

Musical Challenges

Single notes sound best here. The Lip Pucker technique is the way to go for that.

High notes can be challenging and you want to avoid a thin sound. Support from the diaphragm makes the higher octave versions fuller.

Playing single notes and Breathing Techniques are all covered in Harmonica Essentials - Check out the course material here: Harmonica Essentials Course

Video Timeline

You Shook Me is a classic old Blues song that has a great melody that we can lift to work on our bending in second position.

I chose to use a C harmonica for this which puts us in Blues in G. The C harmonica is a good choice for starting out. It is centrally tuned - not too high and not too low. The key of C has no sharps or flats so it's easier to talk and understand theory in this key. Most of the lessons on this site use a C harmonica.

You can find a downloadable version of the harmonica tabs under the Help File link above.

Have fun. Let me know how you make out. Leave a comment.

Peace. Stay in tune.

George
