I have a question that you might be able to help me with. I can play several songs (guitar, singing and harmonica). My biggest challenge is going to the right note (ex: to a 4 blow or 5 draw) when it is time for me to stop singing and quickly switch to the harmonica section. Because I can’t really see the 4 hole – or any other hole, I often don’t HIT the correct note when I first start playing the harmonica part . Is their a trick to hitting the right note when moving quickly from singing to playing the harp. I thought of putting a dent above some note on the harmonica plate so that my lips would quickly feel where the dent is and thus allow me to get oriented quickly. Do you have any other suggestions?

    Much appreciated

    Paul

Hi Paul, thanks for the question.
The trick to hitting the right note when moving quickly from singing to playing the harp is practice and ear training.
You know the general area that you’re playing in and your ear knows the note it wants to hear.
Don’t play tentatively. Go for the note. If it’s not the right one, your ear will tell you if it’s too low or too high and you quickly adjust.
I would not recommend denting or marking your harmonica.
    I hope that helps.
