Video Timeline
00:00: - Introduction
Hey George here. Welcome to HarpnGuitar.com, the site that helps you sound great on guitar and harmonica. Today we’re going to look at the Blues Scale in second position on a C Harmonica.
00:25 - What is the scale?
The Blues Scale is a 6 note scale as compared to the Major scale which is a 7 note scale.
It is built on the minor pentatonic scale with an added Flat Fifth.
Using a C harmonica, in second position, puts us in the key of G.
Normally we know what key the song is in, go up a fourth and use that key harmonica but this time we have the harmonica so let's go down a fourth from C to G.
A C harmonica is good for Blues in G in second position.
If we draw on -2-3-4, we produce a G chord on the C harmonica.

I enjoyed the G blues scale. The more I learn the more I love it.
I have a question and never seem to grasp it in simple terms. The different positions? Point me to a source that will lay it out in simple and complete terms. I’d appreciate that!
Thanks,
Mark
