Musical Challenges

For Harmonica - Single Notes: The harmonica solo line should be played as single notes. Good air support will fatten up those notes.
Everything you need to get up to speed including single notes is covered in the video series Harp N Guitar Harmonica Essentials

Guitar - Chords: Everything is new here but surprisingly easy. Cool.

If you need help here, check out your membership video series Harp N Guitar Guitar Essentials, Guitar Chords and Rhythm Guitar and Strumming.

Video Timeline

0:39 - Introduction

Open G Tuning and Chords, Riffs and Rhythm, Harmonica solos and Run through.

1:02 - Open G Tuning

This is not standard tuning. Instead of E A D G B E, tune your guitar to D G D G B D.

Now strumming the strings open produces the chord, G Major.

2:18 - Guitar Chords, Strumming and Fills

Easy to play chords with open tuning, rhythm and tasty fills.

7:00 - Transposing with a Capo

I'm demonstrating this in a lower key. Using a capo will get you in key with the recording.

7:12 - Harmonica Key G

There's a beautiful french horn solo at the beginning that I have transcribed for harmonica. You can also play the melody to verse and chorus

7:49 - Let's Play

Chords display on the screen during the video.

Things To Note

When I released this, I was still working this one out and so it turned out a little rough.

With practice over the years, my sound has improved tremendously from these days.

This was recorded in my studio in Nanaimo, British Columbia in October 2011.

I hope you had fun messing with the open tuning. Let me know how it goes.

Stay in tune my friend.

George
