Musical Challenges

For Harmonica: Learning where the notes are on the harmonica that make up the chord can take time to learn but there are some blow and draw generalities that will help.

The Harmonica Cheat Sheets video course demonstrates where all the notes are for every chord in every key on the harmonica.

For Guitar - The F# minor chord may give you some trouble. There is also a cool syncopated rhythm in the intro and break sections.

Chords and strumming and making sense of the 'down up' is covered in Guitar Essentials, Guitar Chords and Rhythm Guitar And Strumming.

Video Timeline

0:30 - Introduction

Taken from the Blood on the Tracks album of 1975, Tangled Up In Blue was recorded in the key of A. So let's learn the guitar chords, strumming rhythm, pick out a harmonica and figure out where the notes of the melody and chords are on the harmonica.

Since the song is in the key of A and we'll play in first position, the harmonica key is also A.

1:40 - Intro/ Break Chords and Rhythm Guitar Part

The intro starts alternating between A and Asus4. Not sure what a sus4 chord is all about? We got that covered.

The intro/break section has an interesting rhythm that incorporates syncopation.

Things To Note

This was recorded in Qualicum Beach, British Columbia in February 2019.

Dylan likes to experiment with his songs, often changing key and using alternate chord progressions. Tangled Up In Blue was also played live in the key of G.

Let me know how it goes, leave a message below.

Peace. Stay in tune my friend.
