F Major 7 Rhythm
Outline
The IV major chord in the key of C is F. This is a troublesome chord for a lot of people.
Thankfully, the Major 7 version is easier to play than the three note triad.
This session will work on alternating between F and FM7.
I am also introducing a new rhythm that should help get rid of stiffness in strumming.
Concepts
* IV Major vs IV Major 7
* Sixteenth notes

Strumming Pattern

When strumming in 4/4 time, it’s good to be able to have a 16th type of feel that allows adding anticipation strums.
It helps loosen up stiffness in strumming.
So in this exercise, we’ll utilize sixteenth notes to aid in making this transition.
On the first and third beats of the rhythm is a single quarter note while on beats 2 and 4 are four sixteenth notes.
Here’s how it’s counted.
1 2e&a 3 4e&a
Here’s how it’s strummed:
Down, down, up, down, up, Down, down, up, down, up
