Swinging Eighths

Strumming Pattern
G7 Rhythm Swinging Eighths

The point of this rhythm is to practice swinging eighth notes.
Eighth notes are swung when the eighth note on the first half of the beat receives a longer duration than the eighth note on the second half of the beat. Typically, the first eighth note duration is for 2/3 of a beat and the second eighth note gets 1/3 of the beat.
Also, typically, the second eighth note will be accented.

In this rhythm the first eighth is a down stroke and the second eighth is an up stroke:
Down, up, down, up, down, up, down, up.
