In this lesson, as in most of the lessons, I am playing a Hohner Special 20 in the key of C.

In this session we’ll look at the IV Major Pentatonic Scale on the Pentatonic Scale Cheat Sheet and where that is found on the diatonic harmonica. These are the notes that will sound great and offer inspiration for improvising over the IV Major chord.

Looking at the IV - Major section of the Pentatonic Scale Cheat Sheet we can see in the chart that the lowest note on the harmonica that is also a part of the scale is blow 1.
This the fourth note of our scale and represents the fifth of the IV Major chord.
Next is draw 1 which is the 6th from the root.

The first root note of the IV Major pentatonic scale is found at -2bb at the beginning of the second row.
Next is blow 3
The third note of the scale is -3bb
The fourth note is blow 4
The fifth note is draw 4

Next octave

Blow 7

The first four notes of the IV Major pentatonic scale in the upper register start with -9 for the root
The second note is blow 9
The third note is -10
